Trick or Treat Exchange 2022
Sep. 13th, 2022 07:21 pm!Please, just because I have more prompts or more to say about a fandom (or prompt) doesn’t mean I want it more, it just means that I have more to say. I want all of these equally!
Using unrequested characters, as long as a requested character is also included is fine by me, especially if it helps you create a better piece that you have more fun working on. The same applies to creating original characters for the purpose of a fic, especially for AUs or ideas that take place pre or post canon.
General DNWS:
Permanent Protagonist death (killing antagonists is fine - I specify antagonists because this being horror, a protagonist could be a villain)
Mindbreak/loss of sense of self (I want the character to have some hint of what they were, even if they're not totally the same)
Scat/Watersports
Mundane AUs
Excessive and Unmitigated Angst (I’m okay with dark stuff in fics, but I want there to be some hope in the end)
Vore
All the way through penetration
Character or Pairing bashing
Characters ending up as Mundane Zombies
General Likes: I love monsters in all contexts and situations. If you're looking at my prompts and don't know what to write for me minimum wordcount of whatever you like as long as it features a nonhuman character is going to be a safe bet for something I'll adore. Seriously, give me monsters or anything similar any way you like and I'll be happy.
In horror/trick style pieces don't feel the need to shy away from violence or gore, especially with characters who can dish out (or survive!) that kind of punishment. This extends to the kinds of injuries/gore that are typically considered opt-in or are often DNWs for people.
Graphically described body horror, traumatic transformations and the like are very fun for me.
And in the opposite direction of horror - I love fluff, the more tooth rotting the better. Creepy fluff, or tender moments with characters where you don't expect that kind of thing is super fun for me as well, but fluff in general is something I enjoy. Attack me in the feels with the sweetest things you can think of, go for it, I'm ready!
And now for my requests!
Prototype
Supreme Hunter: Just looking for something from the point of view of a monster here, what it thinks about the situation it's in, of itself, of its goals, anything. If you want to write me an AU where it survives by any means you can think of that would be cool, or if its encounter with Alex turned out differently I'd really enjoy that too.
Robert Cross: With Cross I have two wildly divergent lines of thought for works that could be considered 'tricks'. One is that I’d love a fic about him doing his job, tracking down runners and killing them and all the infected they might have created. Or to put it another way, Cross being a horrifying, masked pursuer, mercilessly tracking down a frightened young girl, killing everyone she’s met in her attempt to escape him and then killing her. Because his job description is basically ‘be the villain of an old slasher movie to protect humanity from a horrible, mutagenic virus’.
Other line of thought is a sort of bad end AU where he ends up infected, somehow, not like in the game where the supreme hybrid consumes him and steals his form and memories, but Cross himself genuinely infected. I want to see either how it happens, or his thoughts on becoming what he’s spent the better part of his life eradicating. Is he conflicted, wondering how long he should let things carry on before reporting what’s happened and turning himself in to be destroyed (or worse, kept for research?) or does he keep at it, determined to track down Alex and have one last victory, trying to die a hero rather than a monster?
And if you want to write me a treat, please go for it! I definitely want to see what Cross does between missions or when he has down time. He's such a horrifying badass that I'd love to see something focused on him getting the chance to just be a normal person, something that humanizes him.
Dana Mercer: There’s a lot to do with Dana. Her being alone and scared while the city goes to hell, her trying to reconcile everything Alex has said with what’s going on. The missing scene of her in the hive with Greene. A bad ending AU where Green infects her, or Alex, or anything that results in her being infected. If you do go with her being infected, graphic descriptions and messy transformations are something I love.
And if you're not in the mood for horror, give me a look at her childhood, some happy moment that she'll cherish forever. Was there a time Alex did something especially nice for her, or she did something that earned her genuine approval from him? Go for cute, go for silly, go for anything that the thought of makes you smile!
Alex Mercer: Since he’s a not human, I’d love something focused on that, him fighting the infected, him tracking down someone to consume them, him dealing with all of the conflicting memories he’s acquired. Or him trying to pretend to be human for Dana’s sake. Or him losing control of his powers, becoming something more obviously inhuman, fighting with instincts that he doesn’t want to act on. Body horror is my jam here and Alex is body horror the character.
Or give me an AU where after the events of the first game he's trying to be a better brother to Dana or a better person in general, even if he's not terribly good at it by virtue of not being human.
Biohazard
Albert Wesker: Some time before RE5 Wesker went totally insane. My thought is that it’s because of what he’s been through, no longer being fully human and then finding out the truth of his upbringing, that every part of his life, right up until he betrayed Umbrella was one big, carefully orchestrated science experiment, Spencer’s pet project. Arrogant as Wesker is, I can see that destroying him, the discovery that for the majority of his life he had no agency whatsoever, that the first action that he took that was truly his own was to betray his creators. With Wesker I’m looking for a kind of existential horror, the knowing that he’s, by the setting’s standards, a monster, even if he doesn’t look it. On a fundamental level, he’s just another B.O.W., the same as a Tyrant, just somewhat more refined.
Or for something completely different write be a fic about him overseeing some experiment or doing mercenary work the way he was during Code Veronica, or create a 'treat' style piece that humanizes him in some way. Was there ever a time he thought he might be able to work for the true betterment of humanity? After all he genuinely did seem to be friends with William Birkin, and maybe there was a reason Jake's mother saw something in Wesker. I'd love something touching on situations like that.
Carlos Oliveira: Remake won me over with Carlos and I now love him. Give me pre-canon adventures working for Umbrella, missing scenes set during the events of the game, or his adventures afterwards (working as a mercenary I assume, but if you want him running, haunted by his past, that’s cool too!). I’d love to see him in all sorts of dangerous situations, dealing with B.O.W.s and zombies during the events of the game, coming to terms with who he’s working for, and afterwards. Or if you're in the mood for something light and happy, what does he do on his down-time, how does he unwind and relax between all his adventures - maybe he has what would be considered a really mundane or boring hobby that he's super into, something you wouldn't expect of a badass mercenary, like baking or knitting or something similar (note, I do not consider these to actually be boring and if you want to use a hobby you have feel free to go into technical details about it because that's awesome). I think things like that would be especially cool if he's actually really good at whatever it is.
Excella Gionne: Excella is my absolute favorite villain in this series. Anything you write featuring her will make me happy.
You want to do something pre-canon her being a ruthless businesswoman, a vapid rich girl having a good time, her realizing how her family made its fortune and what she has to do to maintain that, the moment where she first met Wesker and he sold her on his plans? Go for it!
You want to write an AU where she survives, either by outsmarting Wesker in some way (he trusts her to administer his medication after all and she has access to mind control drugs…) or by not being killed by Uroboros? Go for it!
You want to write a scene of her working with or being miserable to Jill when Jill is Wesker’s captive? I’m all for that too.
And that goes double for art. Draw her doing anything or just being beautiful and menacing and you will make my day.
Jake Muller: With Jake there’s so much potential for horror. Missing scenes from his time a NeoUmbrella’s captive, post RE6 him continuing work as a mercenary, fighting B.O.W.s, escaping from them, the people who created them and possibly the BSAA while he’s there. He could end up in a bad situation because some organization manages to discover that he’s Albert Wesker’s son (imagine how valuable that must make him for research purposes!).
And because I’m always up for infected characters, maybe being Wesker’s son doesn’t mean he’s immune to the viruses of the setting, maybe it just means that he stays sane and himself after being infected. An AU where he’s not as resistant to the C-virus would make me so happy, or maybe something set post-RE6 where Jake starts realizing there’s something wrong with him. Maybe it starts as receiving an injury that should have killed him, but doesn’t, or he realizes he’s stronger, faster, his senses and reflexes seem better, which is awesome, but it doesn’t stop there…Mutations could be subtle or drastic, how does he cope with them? Is he bothered, or is there something about what’s happening to him, some mental change that means he’s not as horrified as he knows he should be? Maybe it takes actual effort for him to keep track of what’s going wrong. Does he seek help or does he continue working as a mercenary afterwards?
Or go for something that happened way, way before RE6 from when Jake was still an innocent little kid. Give me a glimpse into his childhood, doing ordinary things and having as happy a childhood as was possible for him growing up with his mother and the lies she must have told him about his absent father. Along those lines, go straight for the feels and write something about Jake as a little boy imagining what his father must have been like and how wonderful it would be to get the chance to finally meet him.
Jill Valentine: Missing scenes between the mansion incident and being pursued by Nemesis would be fun, her dealing with STARS being disbanded and discredited, regarded as mentally unstable because of what she’s seen and how no one could possibly believe her.
The worry she felt during any of the times that Chris went missing, vanished without a trace.
Her thoughts falling out the window, hands at Wesker’s throat, only to wake up in a lab.
Her time as Wesker’s captive, the experiments she must have been forced to help him with, or been a test subject for.
After that, being rescued by Chris and then seeming to vanish from the series. Were there lingering effects from the P-30 and everything else she was exposed to?
Or infected character AU scenarios. When Nemesis infected her with the T-virus, if the T-Abyss virus vaccine didn’t work, her time as Wesker’s captive and test subject (Jill infected with Uroboros is an idea that’s long fascinated me). Or even go post canon, the reason she’s vanished is complications from all of everything she’s been exposed to and she’s not exactly (or if you want to go all out, even remotely) human anymore.
For treat style pieces, the early days of S.T.A.R.S., before Umbrella was revealed for what it was, hanging out with friends, having good times, just being ordinary. Or moments set during the series, between missions, her relaxing on her downtime and finding ways to have fun. Long phone calls catching up with friends, finding ways to make time to have fun between saving the world, finding fun where she can.
Rebecca Chambers: She’s one of those characters that seems to have been forgotten by the series. With her I’m looking for anything, a missing scene showing her being a badass action hero, or at least trying to be – maybe she’s still a frightened young woman in over her head and doing her best. Or maybe she’s tried to put all that behind her and you want to write a quiet scene of her having settled down to have a normal life.
Sherry Birkin: Ah, adorable little Sherry. Give me missing scenes of her out in Raccoon city, searching for her father, her encountering him where he’s mutated beyond recognition, delirious fever dreams when she’s infected, her growing up basically belonging to Simmons as a pet project, bargaining for her freedom, getting sent out on a mission that she only half understands, finding out the truth about Simmons, ending up a captive of NeoUmbrella. There’s so much potential for horror with Sherry.
Again, because I’m predictable, infected AU situations are always something I’ll enjoy. Claire being too little too late to save her and us finding out what successful integrating of the G-virus with a host means, her mutating under Simmons’ care (possibly as the result of something he does to her, not that she might know), hitting puberty and having the added horror of becoming something not at all human (and all too reminiscent of her late father?), or something happening while she’s a captive of NeoUmbrella.
But it's not just horror that I want with her, I'd love to see scenes from her childhood, her parents doing the best they could to raise her right. This is kind of an aside, but I like to imagine that before things when bad and the events of the games started the Birkins tried to be good parents even if they might not have been the best at it. I'd love family fluff and feels with Sherry and her family.
Oh my goodness – this thought just came to me – Sherry out trick or treating as a little kid with one or both of her parents. Is that not the most heartbreakingly adorable thing imaginable?
Carlos Oliveira/Chris Redfield/Jill Valentine: I want to read about this particular Jill sandwich. I'd prefer that none of them are coerced into the situation by the other requested characters and that there's no awkwardness during or after. These three having good, gun, hot sex that all enjoy in the end (even if that comes as a surprise to one or more of them!) is what I want, though a bit of humor is always appreciated. Set it up any way you like, sexpollen, a drunken good idea, something that all of them've just thought about doing, anything, go wild. Oh, and don't think that you need to make it that the two of them are strictly double-teaming Jill, anyone can do anything to anyone at any time. I have no hierarchy of who I like doing what to who in threesomes as long as everyone's enjoying it.
Sherry Birkin/Jake Muller: I just love these two as a couple, him the tough guy, cynical and jaded, Sherry incurably optimistic and endearing despite having been through hell. An extended or missing scene from the game, a chance encounter between them on some future mission, anything where the two of them are getting through some tough situation together, or them just having the chance to do something kind of ordinary and share a tender moment together. Sherry and Jake deserve all of the nice things and I'd love silly, cute, endearing, or just plain heartwarming fluff featuring these two.
If you want to go with something full on horror, I’m always up for depictions of Sherry where her G-virus infection does more than make her stronger, more durable and makes her age at a slower rate. Eyes in unnatural places, extra limbs, fangs, things being just not right are very fun for me if you want to play around with body horror ideas. Sherry having to explain or show Jake why she doesn’t want to consummate their relationship would be awesome, and Jake’s reaction is up to you, ranging anywhere from totally fine to nope! and being glad that Sherry wasn’t want their relationship to get physical.
Or, since the G-virus does funny things to the infected, making it so that reproduction comes first and foremost, maybe Jake doesn’t get a choice in the matter and is lucky to survive an encounter with an amorous (visibly infected?) Sherry. Despite my love of monsters, Sherry doesn’t need to be one for this situation, Jake being ravaged by an amorous, adorable little blond who won’t take no for an answer while the two of them are captives of NeoUmbrella would be so much fun.
Any B.O.W./Any Player Character: I like monsters, this series is full of ‘em. Pick a monster, pick a character, go wild. Seriously, I’m up for anything you can think of.
The standard situation of one of the many creatures of the series catching the protagonist off guard with something other than murderous intent is fine by me, but if that’s not your thing I’m up for fluff and feels where the B.O.W. is another character who was infected and the encounter is pure romance and sweetness as the two of them reassure each other, figuring out what is different and what remains the same.
Dead by Daylight
The Entity: How does it manipulate the world to draw in the people it needs, both killers and survivors? Not to mention the way it seems to sift through countless parallel realities to find the ones it’s looking for. Is it possible to write a character study for a thing like this?
The lore implied that it designed the trials through trial and error, how did it learn? What were some of its early failures? By what standards does it measure success? What does it gain from the world it’s created? Does it have a goal and what would that goal mean for the survivors it holds trapped?
Really anything goes here, I just want to see your theories about this thing…
Evan MacMillan: One of my favorite killers. Like so many of them his backstory is strange and tragic and horrifying. What stuck with me most when reading into his lore was that he liked to draw. Has any of that remained in his role in the Entity’s realm? Does he feel any remorse over what he does or is that long gone, replaced by a sense of horrific duty?
If you want to write something that’s more of a treat than a trick, maybe a bittersweet piece where he finds some comfort in the Entity’s realm, something to hold onto and give him some semblance of hope.
Max Thompson Jr.: Another of my favorite killers because his story is one of the more tragic ones. What was it like for him when he first found himself in the Entity’s realm and did his impression of the place and situation change over time? Was there a learning curve for him? Are there any survivors that he particularly dislikes and takes pleasure in sacrificing? Are there survivors that he feels bad for and occasionally lets get away?
If you want to try and write something more along the lines of a treat style fic than a trick, maybe Max’s imagination allows him to see himself as some kind of hero, going after those he imagines have done something to deserve what they get, or maybe it’s all some crazy gameshow in his head, or a television show and they’re all just actors playing a role. After all everyone he kills or sacrifices comes back for another episode when the time is right.
Anna: Creepy feral child all grown up and a horrific monster tormenting survivors in the trials. Very fun idea, very fun killer. Does she even realize that anything’s changed from her life? Also, her tendency in life to spare girls strikes me as an interesting thing – are there any and female survivors that she feels inclined to spare?
Ooh, and this thought just came to me for Anna, but it works for any of the killers – an AU where she’s a survivor, using what she learned in life to get through the trials…
Claudette Morel: One of my favorite survivors, I typically main her when I play and her story makes me love her all the more. A quiet girl, bookish and interested in the natural world around her, ending up stuck in a completely unnatural place that doesn’t seem to operate by any but the most arbitrary of rules. What is it like for her to try and make sense of things around her in the trials, to put her knowledge to use in such a place? Has she managed to find any fellow survivors that she considers friends or is she still trying to figure things out?
Dwight Fairfield: I feel bad for Dwight. He never had any luck before ending up trapped by the Entity and it feels like being stuck in the trials is just a continuation of that kind of misery. The fact that it’s implied in his lore that something troubling happened to him as a teen makes me wonder about him. Was his situation previously so miserable that being stuck in the Entity’s realm an improvement – it feels like that to me when I look at his perks, they’re all about teamwork and helping others, something the lore implies that he never really managed before.
Original Works
Girl Who Just Got Transformed Into A Real Version Of The Halloween Costume She Was Wearing or Guy Who Just Got Transformed Into A Real Version Of The Halloween Costume He Was Wearing: Is it just them or have other people been transformed as well? Did this happen at a costume party, while they were still at home, or on the way to somewhere? Do they notice at first or does it take a bit for them to piece together that something's strange? Are they horrified or are they happy? This could be humor just as easily as horror and I'm fine with either direction.
Bigfoot Matriarch/Mermaid Princess: I like the contrast between these two, royalty of land and sea, a strong and powerful creature from the forest in love with something lithe and exotic from the ocean. I wonder how these two fell in love, or was it an arranged marriage to cement an alliance between their respective peoples? As much as I want to know the story behind these two, a simple scene of them together would be equally amazing.
Little Bigfoot Girl & The Little Human Girl She Befriends: Oh my goodness, this is so adorable! I’m imagining that the two of them are about the same age when they first meet, trusting and curious as children are. Is the human girl lost and thinks that the bigfoot girl is an adult because she’s so much larger? Is the bigfoot girl curious about humans and choses to approach a small, unintimidating one to try and figure them out? How do they become friends, what adventures do they go on together?
Just give me all of the adorable childhood innocence and fun here. This prompt is absolutely precious and I am in awe.
Woman Who Just Moved To Town Where All Residents Turn Into Monsters Every Halloween Night: Did she know what she was getting into when she moved here? There were stories, I'm sure, but did she ignore them? And how do the residents of the town feel about her moving in? Do they try to warn her away, or wait in sinister anticipation of a new victim? Alternately, is the town some kind of sanctuary for monsters and they assume that she's one of them and can't wait to see what she turns into on the town's special night? Maybe Halloween’s a big party for them, the chance to finally, safely, be what they are. Or are they horrified that there's a human in their midst, an outsider that might reveal their secret to the rest of the world, putting them in danger. Maybe it's something about the town that makes people monsters and she's going to turn into something as well! There's just so much to go with here and I'm up for anything.
Lost Female Hiker/Monsters in the Woods: What kind of monster? How long does it stalk the hiker before making its move and why is it interested in the hiker for sex rather than as a meal? I also like that he monster isn’t given a gender here, so that means it’s up to you!
On the other hand maybe the monster is friendly and after a frightening first encounter the hiker realizes that the monster doesn’t mean her any harm and things progress from there. Is the monster lonely and looking for a friend?
